Eco-Vallée: the Silicon Valley in Nice

The first metropolis of France, Nice is changing fast and becoming more and more competitive among big international cities.

Among its key projects is Eco-Vallée, an impressive plan of requalification of the Var plain that aims to create a sustainable and energetically autonomous urban area. This project seeks the requalification of the local economy, based today almost exclusively on tourism.

Works such as the new tramway line, which will be completed in 2017, the Multimodal Interchange Hub, now under construction, and the international business centre Grand-Arénas have already attracted companies such as IBM, EDF and GDF-Suez and will create 20, 000 new jobs by 2020. According to the municipality of Nice, the economic impact of this project will be of 8 million.

Nice is also planning many other business operations. At the end of 2016, Ikea will open its doors in the heart of the Eco-Vallée, near the new ecologic stadium Allianz Riviera inaugurated in 2013, and will create 350 new jobs. Beside Ikea, the new Nice One shopping centre, of 22, 700 sq m, will also be opened.

In this scenario, the number of Italian companies based in Cote d’Azur increases constantly. They are present in all business sectors and stand out for their strong spirit of innovation and the quality of their products. Italians are also the most important estate investors animating the French Riviera.
