Cervo: The International Chamber Music Festival [Video]

Gender transversality, interpreted by absolute artists, intercepts and stimulates a confrontation between seemingly distant musical worlds that are indispensable for those who love music.

Cervo is a shock. A pyramid of history, architecture and people who live it. Perhaps are these people with the shy normality mixed with love for the place where they live, that make Cervo alive and unique. A vitality that runs through the steep alleyways, the historic buildings, the hidden corners and those whose beauty is revealed as a sudden vision. A vitality that has a common denominator: music.

Music and Cervo have a profound connection, a bond whose progeny is tied by the bizarre fate that, over fifty years ago, prevented violinist Franco Vallora from participating in a charity evening at the church of San Giovanni Battista, better known as " Chiesa dei Corallini ”. It was his impromptu substitute, Sandor Vegh who underwent the iconographic shock, but above all the acoustics of the churchyard of this church. Vegh falls in love with Cervo, buys the house overlooking the square like a natural backdrop, elaborates and then proposes an ambitious and visionary project to the Municipality.

Cervo and culture attract each other; the many people who discreetly choose it as an ideal buen retiro (good retreat) know this. Pietro Citati, Henry Furst and his wife Orsola Nemi, Casorati, Campagnoli, Gina Lagorio, are just some of these, but the list of artists, writers and celebrities of contemporary culture that have frequented and frequent the village, would be very long.

It was inevitable that the International Chamber Music Festival would follow a path of growth, development and maturation. A bright and modern idea has become a structured project, declined in half a century of high-level music and which in recent years has been further enriched with a jazz incursion. Today the Festival changes its skin again, in a dynamism inherent to its being and multiplies appointments. In a moment where art and culture suffer the cyclical falcidia, Cervo invests quantitatively and qualitatively, betting on the present but even more on the future of a review that is renewed, reconfirming fully its primordial ambitions.
