Description:

Located in a pedestrian area in Imperia Oneglia's old town, close to the sea and historical sites, the four-star Hotel Rossini al Teatro offers the perfect accommodation for short and long stays in this charming part of westernmost Liguria. The small town of Oneglia, along with Porto Maurizio, composes the city of Imperia; it has its own old town, a beautiful harbour, unique squares and architecture. Hotel guests greatly enjoy the hotel's central location and its easy access by foot to most city attractions, sites, cafés, bars and restaurants.

Hotel Rossini al Teatro owes its name to the old city theater as it sits on its original site. Initially the  seat of an old Day Theatre, replaced in 1864 by the new and elegant Umberto I Theatre, the area has witnessed more than 150 years of Oneglia's rich history. Throughout the decades the theatre changed many a time its name and in 1946 became Rossini Theatre. In 1955 it was remodeled and changed into an ampler and modern cinema theatre that successfully ran until 1985 and was an important meeting place of the city. Closed for many years, in 2001 the theatre left its place to the construction of the modern luxurious hotel that still holds many elements and the splendor of the original theatre.

The current hotel structure was created with special attention to details that evoke the theatre's history and majesty. The 1850 theatre's original columns, the use of wood as it is common in play areas, iron beams that recall stage and offstage, backdrops clippings in rooms and the main hall, the letter R from the cinema theatre Rossini's signboard, and the original 1933 Zeiss-Ikron Ernon 4 projector are just a few examples of the connection between the hotel and its history.

Entering the Hotel Rossini al Teatro, one immediately feels at home; the warmth at the reception, combined with the staff's spontaneous courteousness and affability, make guests feel relaxed and taken care of straightaway. The hotel's atmosphere is elegant and familiar at the same time as one can quickly notice when comfortably sitting and sipping tea in the main hall. Rooms are tastefully decorated; the choice of fabric, colors, and materials once more show the hotel's attention merely focused on one objective: the guest's comfort and delight.

The guest rooms, all 48 equipped with a range of contemporary amenities offer every comfort (air conditioning, phone, wifi, satellite TV, safe, minibar, bathrobe and slippers). Guests can overindulge on the lavish bathroom products provided by the exclusive olive-oil-based Mediterranea line by the local Fratelli Carli company.

Preoccupation with guests' well-being is also evident in the attentive breakfast service and its wide assortment of delicacies. The rich buffet is beautifully laid in the modern and stylish breakfast hall that overlooks the center of Oneglia and whose activity one can enjoy through asymmetrical windows. The choice of products comes from a selective research that shows a clear intention in keeping things local and at the very best quality. Guests can savor a selection of homemade cakes uniquely baked onsite by the hotel staff, indulge on locally-produced cold cuts from a nearby town and relish delicious jams also specially prepared for the hotel by a small local company. To complete the feast, guests can choose among a variety of other excellent products that make the beginning of the day a great one.

The hotel location, in Oneglia's old town, provides an impeccable starting point for many itineraries of the widest variety; upon arrival, guests are provided with ideas carefully put together by the hotel's director who is very knowledgeable about the area and eager to provide suggestions to make the best of one's stay.

Leaving the hotel one can simply stroll by foot or by bike, with free bikes provided by the hotel, just in Oneglia, enjoying the beautiful arcades and the small squares hidden in historical alleys, walking along the colorful harbor and relaxing for a meal, drink or coffee in one of the picturesque bars and restaurants. One can also plan a day at the beach, easily accessible by foot from the hotel, and enjoy this beautiful side of the Ligurian Riviera, its distinctive colors and landscape. There are also many astonishing sites to visit in Porto Maurizio - the next town that composes Imperia - with its eighteenth century buildings, the historical Cavour Theatre and the Parasio, a medieval borough, labyrinth of alleys, and seat of the Santa Chiara Convent where one can enjoy a breathtaking view of the entire gulf.

Alternatively, one can organize a trip to discover the delicious variety of olive oil produced in this area of Liguria; the local taggiasca olive is one of the most prestigious kind and the olive oil produced from this plant is of the highest quality. One can start the trip by visiting the Olive Oil Museum just around the corner from the hotel, continuing with the visit of oil mills in the inland, through the villages of Lucinasco, Borgomaro, Dolcedo which still produce their olive oil in the ancient fashion, and then following the Olive Oil Route with its 13 itineraries to explore. This “enogastromic” (food and wine) tour can be enhanced by wineries and restaurants along the way thoughtfully chosen and suggested by the expert hotel staff.

The Hotel Rossini is also the perfect base to explore the western Ligurian coast with beautiful cities such as Sanremo, Bordighera, the villages of Dolceacqua, Apricale or the stunning French Cote d'Azur which is less than an hour away. Additionally, starting from San Lorenzo al Mare, the most beautiful greenway in Europe runs to Ospedaletti along the coast of the Riviera dei Fiori. This flat 24 kilometer (15 mile) trail, facing the sea and flanked by gardens, was created on the layout of the old railroad line with easy access to the beaches and historical centers. The hotel staff can organize   bike rentals and transportation to San Lorenzo.

After an exciting day exploring, or for a lazy day, guests can get pampered in the adjacent spa, on the third floor and directly accessible from the rooms: an oasis of tranquility offering a variety of treatments including massages, body and facial treatments.

The hotel  is also an excellent business destination, perfect for medium-size conferences with its 45-people meeting room or bigger events in conference facilities at the nearby Fratelli Carli Museum Hall where dinners can be hosted and stands set up.
