Kitesurfing since last year has become an Olympic sport, and is a water sport that is fascinating the young and elderly around the world; the practice of the kite is meant to be not only the actual water sport, but also more broadly a real lifestyle.
This discipline, although widely spread in recent years, has not yet been fully understood for its extraordinary potential in training, both physically and mentally.
But let's see where the most interesting spots in the province of Imperia are.
Starting from Diano Marina, we find a spot with winds from the east as well from the west, that blow 365 days a year.
Spots formed by a central wide beach that lends itself to a simple entry even when blowing a wonderful Mistral, that can reach a peak of 40 knots and that allows evolutions with glides and rides with waves that can go from 1 to 3 meters.
High waves with a frequency of 100 days per year and a very comfortable parking lot in front of the beach.
In Porto Maurizio The Golden Beach resembles an amphitheater created for the wave. However, be careful, in hot days, because of the long motion, east of the spot. The wind speed at 150 m from the shore can get to touch the 30-35 knots. Parking is not the most comfortable.
In San Lorenzo al Mare we find constant wind and swell. As soon as the sea turns up, the spot becomes an excellent springboard for the jumps.
Arma di Taggia is for real fans of kitesurfing. In fact, this spot offers a wide beach both upwind and downwind, characterised by piers that create an inner bay with flat water, ideal for startups and for various manoeuvre.
The sea trip is definitely for the more experienced, in fact, the transition between the jetties is a real danger. The spot has the ideal wind conditions with directions North East, East and South East.
The height of the waves has a frequency of 100 days per year. Parking is ample and during winter is free.
- Sanremo offers a spot, the one of the Empress, suitable for both beginners and experts.
- Bordighera has the spot at the mouth of the Rio Borghetto and when the Levant is not too strong, it creates an area of flat water ideal for lovers of the slalom.
- Finally, Ventimiglia, with the spot of the Nervia, has winds from the third and fourth quadrants which are called by local Maestrale. The Nervia is a spot that fits with the Levant to the wave and the race.
If you choose to practice kitesurfing, it should not be done to escape from the monotony of everyday life, but to follow a real lifestyle with a scale of values different from the usual.
