Since summer 2008 Sanremo’s cycle track welcomes enthusiasts, families and anyone looking for a healthy bike ride along the beautiful coastline of the Riviera of the Flowers in Liguria (Italy).
The cycle track is one of the longest in the Mediterranean Sea, with a length of 24 km, and one of the most beautiful in Europe.
The track is located on the old railway line linking Ospedaletti to San Lorenzo, which fell into disuse in 2001 when a new line running through the hinterland was built.
The project of the cycle track started in 2008, and plans to extend it further may make it reach 60 km of total length.
Eight Seaside Italian Comuni (Municipalities) are crossed by Sanremo’s track, which includes SOS points and 28 CCTV cameras to keep the users safe.
Along the track there are also benches, bicycle’s parking lots, restaurants, hotels, cafes, cycle hiring points and drinking fountains.
The route is mostly flat, straight and easy to cycle along, and it winds though the flagrant and colourful flora of the Western Italian Riviera.
